How Does It Feel?

Acupuncture treatment, the insertion of very fine, solid needles into the surface of the body, is one of the most commonly used techniques in Oriental Medicine and dates back more than 3,000 years. A slight pricking sensation may be felt upon needle insertion and sometimes a slight tingling, or electrical sensation, may be felt around the needle.

With the help of Dr. Duckworth and his associates I will beat this disease and live a normal, healthy life. Dr. Duckworth not only has helped me through acupuncture, he has also been kind, considerate and thoughtful. I intend to keep going for as long as it takes.
— Dennis Fairall

Acupuncture is energy medicine. Life energy permeates the human body, circulating through specific energetic pathways ("meridians" / "channels"), and linked via hundreds of points (tsubo) on the surface of the body through which this energy can be accessed and influenced.

Physical, mental and emotional illness and disease come about when our life energy is not circulating properly. By modification of deficient ki and/or excessive ki, the body, mind and spirit are able to function at fuller capacity. Correct stimulation of the points (tsubo) facilitates optimal circulation of life energy and assures its stabilization and equilibrium, which promotes the improvement of health.

Pediatric Health Care

In some cases it is not necessary to use acupuncture needles at all. For example, when treating infants, young children, or sensitive adults, there are other techniques which are equally as effective.

I hope you can become a sensei for lots and lots of grasshoppers. — Calvin (age 12)

Shoni-Shin, magraine balls, and massage are implemented in treatment. Dietary modifications, herbs, and homeopathics may also be part of the treatment.
